Hello, I'm Dr. Virginia Hurdon!

Supporting Physicians Towards Wellness

I’m here to help fellow physicians overcome the mental, physical, and emotional fatigue that often comes with practicing medicine, so you can reclaim a meaningful and fulfilling life while tackling the challenges of the healthcare system with renewed energy.

Let’s face it—working as a physician can be overwhelming. While you strive to provide the best possible care to your patients, the flawed healthcare system often leaves you stretched thin. With responsibilities piling up, fewer resources available, and hours spent on tasks that aren’t even compensated, it’s no wonder you’re feeling drained. It might seem like you’re not performing at your best, and that realization can be heavy. You may even feel like the weight of it all is distancing you from family, friends, and self-care.

It’s easy to question whether practicing medicine is worth it when it feels like you’re stuck in a cycle that’s hard to break.

So, how do you move forward when you feel trapped?

My Story

I’ve been there too. A few years ago, I went through my own journey of mental health challenge and recovery. For months, I ignored warning signs like growing overwhelm, indecision, sleepless nights, and emotional instability.

By the time I sought help, it was almost too late.

It was during my healing process that I realized how deeply ingrained medical culture is in shaping our mindset—pushing us towards unrealistic self-sacrifice and performance without seeking support. I learned that sometimes an outsider’s perspective is what we need to truly understand the environment we’re immersed in.

After recovering, I came to terms with the fact that returning to medicine wasn’t an option for me anymore. I had to grieve that loss, but I still wanted to serve others. That’s when I discovered health coaching, which has given me a way to empower physicians like you to take a step back, reassess priorities, and cultivate wellness, even amidst the challenges of the healthcare system.

What does being well mean?

For me, it means:

  • Facing challenges head-on while being open to new opportunities

  • Getting restorative sleep—and knowing how to manage when it’s hard to come by

  • Valuing myself outside of my MD

  • Having the energy to manage daily tasks and still enjoy life

  • Living with purpose and fulfillment rooted in my core values

  • Maintaining realistic optimism instead of fixating on worst-case scenarios

  • Embracing growth, even through difficult times
